Project Overview:

The goal of this project is to sync automated electronic parking systems installed at authorized parking areas such as Shopping Malls, Cinema Theaters etc. with a mobile phone application capable of running on Android, Ios and Windows OS , which enables a driver to remotely determine if parking slots are vacant or not at the destination that he is going to, using a Augmented Reality Based Location Mapping Technology,

The overarching goal is to minimize the need for human involvement in the process of finding authorised parking areas around the city, check availability of parking bays or slots within them and also facilitating electronic payments for the time consumed by a vehicle. The system has to satisfy several basic functional criteria, namely, it has to communicate wirelessly with a centralized system to allow for the drivers to view availability of parking slots.


The primary reason for implementing a fully automated parking assistant mobile app is the significant demand for a parking solution which improves upon the existing system of having to drive around looking for an authorized parking area and a free slot within it, and implementation of modern electronic systems capable of accepting payments via smart phones & mobile wallets. Consequently, parking solutions which can increase the efficiency and minimize the need for human involvement in the process which will have a significant advantage over more the present solutions. In addition to the potential financial benefits offered to the Mall managements by the parking app, there is a significant benefit to the consumers. The mobile app at hand offers a way to tell whether the parking space is occupied or unoccupied & available. Combined with wireless connectivity, the system can offer customers with real-time information about the availability of parking spaces remotely so that drivers can plan their route accordingly thus saving their costly fuel and precious time.

Wireless Communication:

The core functionality of the system is the capability to automatically respond to real time parking status, set parking limit & provide real-time information on parking availability, it relies on sensors installed in automated parking areas, the users smart phone and is connected to the internet. The best option at the present time, offering a balance of cost-effectiveness and connection speed, is the cellular network and Wi-Fi which utilizes the existing infrastructure. Since the wireless module functions independently of all the other components, it can be easily implemented.


The Wi-Fi module that interacts with the sensors consumes 40watts. The rest of the system is operated through a centralized server therefore keeping power consumption at a minimum.

Software Control Flow:

The system starts upon arrival of a vehicle; the sensor detects the parked vehicle and sends a message to the centralized server through a wireless module indicating that the parking slot is occupied; the central server then tabulates the total number slots as opposed to the occupied slots and displays the number of remaining free slots on the mobile app.
Any driver can view the real time availability of parking slots in authorized parking areas of Malls and other commercial establishments around the city by downloading the app and installing it on his smart phone.


Vehicular traffic is increasing unabatedly across all cities in India and with it demand for parking, this technology can go a long way in solving the parking woes of the citizens of any city. Prior knowledge of official designated parking areas around the city and the availability of slots within them will help drivers plan their route. It will also ease traffic jams and ensure free flow of traffic. The amount of time spent in searching for parking will be reduced drastically leading to less fuel being burnt; this technology will help reduce vehicular pollution and help in conserving our environment. With the use of analytics built into the app a prediction of peak demand days and peak demand hours can be made for various parts of the city this will help the traffic police and other law enforcement authorities in being better prepared to handle traffic rush.
